Barlata is the new Tapas kid on the block. The husband and wife duo of Daniel Olivella and Vanessa Jerez opened their second tapas bar in the thriving neighborhood of South Lamar, and since they’re both originally from Spain, they know tapas. Their restaurant is set up to accommodate both small and large parties, and have some community tables which makes for a fun experience. No matter what you order, make sure you order: -Arros Negre, a black rice and squid ink paella made with squid and clams -a porrón, a decanter with a spout that is filled with cava or sparkling wine, made to be passed around and poured in your mouth -the Pan con Tomate dessert, if they have it–it’s not as sweet as traditional desserts, and it’s incredible.
